Yes, you are right about the child-bearing window, although it has certainly expanded in recent times. Magginis talks about those who decide to go back to work down the road in her article too. Ultimately, I see following God's call as the goal on either side of the aisle. Sending blessings!Noelle Kirchnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09794755759658147460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7081804779080044274.post-88101143377111473992013-09-23T14:29:36.151-04:002013-09-23T14:29:36.151-04:00Dear Noelle, ooooo, you are treading on hot rocks ...Dear Noelle, ooooo, you are treading on hot rocks in this posting today! You handled it so well! The one point that I think you might have overlooked....is that the biological window for a woman and bearing children is ....limited by God's design! But the window for a career serving society with that Ivy league degree....is much longer, or can be. You are right, education is never wasted!

Did you see Julia Stiles in the movie Mona Lisa Smile? She was admitted to Yale Law School in the 50's, but turned it down for marriage and children, and her response to the Professor (played by Julia Roberts) was excellent. It made me cheer out loud!

As a Little Ivy grad (Trinity Hartford) who was one of only 3 to get married immediately after graduation, I battled that perception issue too, that the education was "wasted."

BUT GOD says....nothing is wasted in My economy! I know what you need! I know your steps and your path. I have good works laid out for you. You are My Workmanship! I am familiar with all your ways. I will lead you! I am with you! You are mine! I have called you by name!

And so....some are called to full-time stay at home mothering, some are called to the civic workplace, and in another season of life, the roles are reversed! Who can say what will happen? Recognizing God's call for the season at hand, and responding to it wholeheartedly is life-affirming!

I know you will uplift women in your interactions on this really touchy subject!
